Switch Help
A Microsoft PowerPoint software license needs to be purchased in order to use the educational boards and slides.
Switches - How do they work? What do I need?
Switches are EASY - as long as you have a switch interface. A switch interface is a
device which plugs into a computer USB. The driver for the USB switch box will tell
the computer what to do with the swithes. EASY!
The switch we like best is by cricksoft.com
This device is about $160. It will run up to 4 switches
of your choice. You simply program items 1-4 to work with
any keyboard stroke you desire. For example, PowerPoint
uses the ENTER key to change slides.
PowerPoint - What do I need?
In our experience, Microsoft PowerPoint is a easy tool for teaching switch use to
anyone with cerebral palsy.
If your computer does not have PowerPoint, you can buy Microsoft PowerPoint
most anywhere Microsoft Products are sold. Of course you can also just visit
microsoft.com
Now visit our educational resouces area and download our presentation books or
teaching tools. To use the switch, click the presentation mode on the view menu.
The switch should be programed to work with the ENTER or SPACE key on the
keyboard. The presentation page will change with each switch hit.
